Picked up and the bonnet

Phew. What a day. So I left home nice and early to go down to my brother-in-law’s place to pick up the trailer. Then, I headed back down to Moorabbin to Brighton Nissan to pick up the bonnet and then back to Mum and Dad’s to drop it off. A whole lot of driving, but man, was it worth it!

Whilst I was at Nissan, I asked Trevor if he could look up the availability of the parkers and taillights. The parker lenses are still available, but not the taillights. Looks like I might have to hunt these down. If anyone reading this is rebuilding a 240Z, I suggest you give Brighton Nissan a call and talk to Trevor Key about parts availability. He’s been real helpful so far, and I am sure will be in the weeks/months/years (I hope it doesn’t take that long) to come.

On the box, someone had written in red “Hell & Back” (not sure if you can make it out in the picture). If anyone knows what this is a reference to, please drop me a comment. I’ve tried to search on ‘the net’ for it, but I haven’t been able to find anything that makes sense.

So, after a careful drive to Mum and Dads, I unloaded the bonnet and was busting with excitement to open it up. My brother-in-law was fixing the brakes on his car, so I had to hold on to the excitement until he was done. Dad and I then got into getting the packaging apart. When we looked down on the new bonnet, we both knew that getting the bonnet that was on the car to look like this would have taken a lot of time and work. We’re both glad that we chose this path. We placed it on the car just to see what it looks like and we are pretty happy.

We didn’t do much else to the car as I had to get back home to go out in the evening. We just rolled her out of the garage and gave her a bit of a wash down with the pressure cleaner. She’s now starting to get ready for the next phase. Dad is going to start looking at getting the front end all lined up with the new bonnet and making sure that the gaps with the guards are spot on while I start stripping the paint work off the rear quarters and the roof.
