Last of the fiddly bits

Today I focused on finishing off the last of the small bits and pieces that needed to be stripped. It was a good day as I got them all finished. At last, the stripping is getting close to a conclusion. All that is left is around the windscreen, the door jams on the car and where the tail lights are.

Dad focused on patching the rust holes on the wheel arch where the battery holder is. He started out by taking the battery holder completely off. He then got the grinder out and started cutting out the worst of the cancer. The images show one of the holes that was cut. After that, he manufactured a couple of patches and then brazed them in place after a little shaping work. We are both very happy with the way that the patches came out.

We are toying with the idea of making the battery holder removable, rather than being welded. We also have to look at how we are going to fix the hole in the firewall that was made for the air conditioning hoses. A problem for another day though.
