POP! Out comes the windscreen.

Today Dad looked into neatening up the firewall where the air conditioning hoses passed through. We decided that the best thing to do would be to increase the size of the hole and make a new patch panel that covered it all up. The panel would also be removable, rather than be welded in place.

Before Dad started working on that though, we decided that it was time to pop the windscreen so I could finish off the last of the stripping around it. He got in the car and started pushing on it with his feet while I worked on the breaking the seal with a screwdriver. It didn’t look like it was going to come out at first, but then I worked on the seal from the inside of the car and it came off fairly quickly. And in one piece too, woot!

With Dad working on the new air conditioning hose plate, I cleaned off the windscreen seal that was still stuck to the car and started stripping the last of the paint off. I got the driver side of the roof and almost all of the A-pillar done. With the windscreen off, we were both pleasantly surprised to see no rust under the seal of the windscreen.

To finish off the day, Dad started to glass up the wheel arch where he had done the patches on Monday. It needs a couple more coats, but it is already looking really good.
