The roof is bare!
Quite a bit of work was done today. I finally got the roof back to metal and Dad has welded the Hatch Panel in place.
It took quite a bit of time to finish off the roof, but it was all done. There are quite a few bog patches which have caused the surface of the metal to rust. Luckily, no holes. We have been trying to work out why there was bog on the roof as we cannot see any lows and cannot feel them either. Dad grabbed a ruler and ran it of the rust spots and we finally saw the dips. Upon feeling over them again, Dad could start to feel them as well.
The hatch panel took a little work to get lined up properly, but it looks great. No more garish quick fixes. It took a little effort to braze it on, but once we cleaned it up a bit more, the braze took to it nicely.
Dad was going to get the fisholean out and give beneath the panel a good dosing, but he remembered that he had some cold gal left and we decided to use that instead. We sprayed beneath the panel as much as we could. We want to make sure that the is no exposed metal under there and end up with a repeat performance or the previous panel. We just need to seal up the seam and use a little metal mend to clean up the welds and it will be all done.
