Phew. What a day. So I left home nice and early to go down to my brother-in-law’s place to pick up the trailer. Then, I headed back down to Moorabbin to Brighton Nissan to pick up the bonnet and then back to Mum and Dad’s to drop it off. A whole lot of driving, but man, was it worth it!

Wow! I got a call from Brighton Nissan today. Can you believe that the bonnet has already arrived! It only took ten days. I will be borrowing my brother-in-law and Dad’s trailer on Saturday to go and pick it up. Sweet!
With most of the front end apart, we decided to taking the tail end apart and finding out what work was required there. As with the front end, the rust effected nuts’n’bolts gave us a hard time, but at least the grinder was only required on one occasion.

Went down to Brighton Nissan in Moorabbin this morning and ordered in a new bonnet. It will be coming in from Japan, so it will take a couple of weeks to get here. Ended up costing $650, which I’m pretty happy about. I had a quote from allzparts in NSW for the same thing for $585 plus $85 delivery, so getting it from Nissan was the better option (also, allzparts had commented that during delivery, they have had a few bonnets get damaged, not nice).
At last, the weekend has arrived and I can go work on the Z. Dad showed me his handy work on the bonnet and it didn’t look too good. For the amount of work that it will take, we have opted to look into getting a replacement bonnet. Read the rest of this entry »
